Gov. Fintiri Praises 21 LG Bosses As Two-year Tenure Expires

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has showered priases on the outgoing local government chairmen in the state describing their two-year term in office as outstanding.
Gov.Fintiri commended the chairmen for their positive contributions in strengthening democracy in the state and also charged them to take advantage of the positive impact they made while serving, in order to seek for a smooth return to office.
Fintiri made the remarks in a press statement issued by his press secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Wednesday.
The governor while commending the local government officials, used the occasion to reiterate his government's commitment to the welfare of the people of the state.
Fintiri said, "Your services to the people and the State is commendable. PDP and my humble self are proud of you. You'll go down in history as part of the success story of our social re-engineering process in Adamawa especially our rural and urban renewal drive.
"You are eminently qualified to return to the people and seek re-election."
While also commending them for identifying with the culture of good governance already exemplified by his administration where adequate attention is being paid to the needs of the People at the grassroots, Gov. Fintiri applauded them for strengthening democracy in the State.
Speaking on the significance of local government administration the governor said, "Local Governments are not only the closest to the people, but possesses the capacity to be more impactful in fulfilling the wishes and aspirations of the people at the grassroots.
"My administration will continue to give priority to staff salaries and welfare as well as projects execution across the State that are beneficial to the people and government."
The governor further directs that, "You are therefore directed to hand over to the Heads of Service in your respective councils who will take charge of administration pending the appointment of caretaker Committees.
"Consequently, all affected officials are legally required to vacate their offices by the close of business on Wednesday December 8th."
The two year statutory tenure of all Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, and appointed Secretaries and others in the State expired on Wednesday December 8th 2021.
It is expected that newly elected officials will resume office after the next elections to be scheduled and conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission.
The Governor therefore challenged Heads of Service to be upright in their dealings as carreer civil servants.
