OPEC Secretary General, Mohammed Barkindo is Dead

Daily Rendezvous OPEC outgoing secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Barkindo, is dead. The CEO NNPC limited, Mele Kyari confirmed his death yesterday in his Twitter handle. Dr. Mohammed Barkindo died at around 11 pm yesterday. His burial arrangements will be announced shortly.

Petrol Subsidy Removal Will be Decided in June – NEC

Daily Rendezvous Nigeria needs $2.7bn investment to stabilise petroleum products supply — NNPC THE National Economic Council, NEC, on Thursday said that decision on the removal of the subsidy on petroleum will be made in June when the provision for its payment in the 2022 budget expires. NEC said though conservation on subsidy removal has been going on it was yet to take a position on it. The council chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met at the Conference Hall, Presidential villa, Abuja on Thursday, with the declaration that since the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited has become a limited liability company, it must be run differently. Daily Rendezvous A Niger Delta rights activist, Israel Joe, has asked the Federal Government not to make real its proposed increase in prices of petroleum products. He warned that civil society organisations would not hesitate to shut down Nigeria if the Federal Government went ahead with such plan. Joe, who stated this in a statement in Warri, said Nigerians would no longer tolerate the hardship brought upon them by the present regime at the centre. He said, “Nigerians will no longer tolerate the hardship brought upon us by this government.
