HoR Blows Hot on Foreign Affairs Ministry: Rejects 2023 Budget Pending Full Compliance with 2022 Appropriation Act Guidelines

Daily Rendezvous  House Committee on Foreign Affairs, blows hot on the ministry of foreign Affairs during its  2023 budget defence upending its 2023 budget over failure to comply with the provisions of the 2022 Appropriation Act. The house strongly holds that it would not consider the ministry's 2023 budget proposals until the Ministry, among other conditions, complies fully with the 2022 Appropriations Act as amended." This was made known in a press statement issued by  Nkem Anyata-Lafia, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Chairman of the Committee on foreign Affairs. The statement reads in part, "The above which was sequel to a resolution of the Committee was occasioned by gross violations of several provisions of the Act and other extant financial regulations by officials of the Ministry. Hon.( Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, has endorsed the 2022 Appropriations Act as forward-looking and a progressive movement for Nigerian Foreign Missions. Yusuf Yakub Buba said, the 2022 Act has given Nigerian missions the Independence to carry out their duties without a recourse to ministerial approvals.
