Daily Rendezvous  North East Development Commission (NEDC), a body responsible for the recovery and restoration of communities in North East states of Nigeria from the debilitating impact of Boko Haram insurgency and other disasters has trained 20 private security outfits in Borno State in orser to buffer and support the efforts of security agencies towards curbing insecurity in the region. The 3-day training tagged, ‘The Role of Informal Security Operatives to Combating Insecurity in Northeast Region’ was held at Maiduguri, Borno state Nigeria. Daily Rendezvous  - Set to Launch 28 ICT, Skill Acquisition Centers in 6 North-East States The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has trained about one hundred and fifty youths drawn from six states of the region on Digital Vehicular Diagnostics and Maintenance. The three weeks of training were designed to curb the immediate problem of poverty and youth unemployment, which has plagued the area since the outbreak of the Boko Haram insurgency. Baba Mohammed Alkali, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission while addressing the graduates of the three weeks of intensive training said, "When this Commission was set up in 2019, we, first of all, had to go round the six states of the region to establish what the challenges of the region were and we gathered that the most pressing concerns were that of the high rate of out of school children and youth unemployment. Daily Rendezvous The Northeast Youth and Elders People Forum has thrown its weight behind the leadership of the North East Development Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali, saying under his leadership, the NEDC, has already built over 1000 housing units in Borno state, and that it has already commissioned the building of another 1500 more housing units with 500 each to be cited in Bauchi, Yobe and Adamawa states. The group maintains that it has completed work on a burn Center at FMC Yola and also on a fully Equipped Molecular laboratory, at the Specialist Hospital in Yola, Adamawa state.
