Killers on the Loose: Bandits 26 in Kaduna, 37 in Zamfara, abduct 62, Raze 70 houses

Daily Rendezvous The relentless wave of killing spree has continued in the far northern part of Nigeria in Kaduna and Zamfara where over 60 lives have been killed and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed. Twenty-five persons, including two military personnel, were reportedly killed, while a riot policeman allegedly shot a passerby and no fewer than 70 houses were razed on Sunday following an attack by terrorists on Agban Kagoro in Kaura LGA of Kaduna State. Similarly, in Zamfara State, bandits were reported to have killed 37 persons and kidnapped 62 others in Juyi and Doruwa villages in the Bungudu Local Government Area, while 20 others were killed in Ganar-Kiyawa village in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Saturday. The Kaduna killings sparked protests on Monday as irate youths from the affected area blocked the road and attacked travellers. Daily Rendezvous Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called for calm as security operatives have taken control of the situation in Igangan, where gunmen suspected to be criminal herdsmen killed about 20 persons, burnt the palace of the village head and rain destruction on igangan community in the early hours of Sunday, June 6, 2021. The governor gave the assurance in a message posted on his Facebook wall on Sunday. Makinde said: "I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. "I am currently being briefed on the incidents. I urge residents to remain calm as security operatives are now in control of the situation."

After 8 Days in Captivity, Kidnapped Adamawa Journalist Regains Freedom

Daily Rendezvous After over a week in captivity, the kidnapped female journalist, Amrah Ahmed Diska, has regained her Freedom in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The news of her release was released by her husband, Ahmad Isa Mbamba at around 1:32am of Wednesday informing her colleagues on the ABC Yola Staff WhatsApp platform that his wife has been released. “Alhamdulilla.Amra has regained her freedom and is reunited with her family. She has returned safely.  "Our sincere thanks to all colleagues for their show of concern and prayers,” he said. However, details surrounding her release still remain sketchy as it is still unclear as to whether any ransom was paid to secure her release Amrah, who was kidnapped, Tuesday 4th May 2021 is a News Editor with Adamawa Broadcasting corporation(ABC) Yola and a nursing mother.

Again, Gunmen Abduct 300 Female Students in Zamfara

Daily Rendezvous Suspected gunmen are reported to have abducted over 300 female students of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government area of Zamfara state. Local sources said, the gunmen stormed the school in droves at around at around 1am -2am while the students were fast asleep and made abducted about 300 female students. SECURITY: Adamawa Community Convenes Security Meeting Over Influx of Suspescious Fulani Herders

Daily Rendezvous The chairman of Lamurde local government council, Burto Williams, has directed that every Fulani herdsman that came into the Numan community without permission should immediately vacate the area and return to their place of origin, until the protocol agreed upon for a mutually respectful farming and grazing activities are observed. Burto explained that at a recent security meeting held at Numan, Demsa and Lamurde, an agreement was reached that herders coming into the Numan community must liase with the local Fulani leaders in order to obtain permission to carry out their activities in peace in the area. Burto Williams made the remarks at an emergency security meeting held over at Lamurde local government, Adamawa state. Burto said, "We have already set an established protocol in order to sustain the peaceful co-existence among all the ethnic nationalities within the Numan zone.
