Olusegun Obasanjo is solidly behind the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that Peter Obi and other candidates gunning for the presidency in 2023 donot have the political clout to gain the support of the 70% of rural north where the larger percent of votes come from. Daily Rendezvous Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), has described  the Lagos declaration by the Southern governors demanding for a Southern President in 2023 as provocative, insensitive, offensive, confrontational and a political assault on all well meaning Nigerian. Daily Rendezvous The Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) says it is not unawares of the scheemings, intimidation techniques and attempt at coertion by some powerful Nigerians, including a retired general, to infiltrate the decision of the delegates of the forum towards changing its decisions that narrowed down its presidential candidacy to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and Raymond Dokpesi.
