Daily Rendezvous  Fellow Nigerians, it is with a heart full of sadness that I address you today.  I have in the last three decades devoted my life to the battle to birth and deepen democracy in our country. It was a battle that started during the military era. It was a struggle that nearly caused me my life and that of my son, Adamu, in Kaduna. I survived the assassination only by the mercies and grace of God. Following that attack, I was forced into exile. But that attack claimed the precious lives of some police officers. That was not all: my businesses were nearly crippled and my signature business was eventually appropriated by the maximum ruler of that era. My commitment to enthroning democracy ensured that I joined forces with other compatriots. As a leader of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), we fought and won the 1993 presidential election, which was acclaimed as the fairest and freest election in our history. Daily Rendezvous The wife of the standard flag bearer of the PDP and former vice president of Nigeria, Titi Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerian women and the general public to resist the temptation to sell their votes as a result of the hardship imposed on them by the shody implementation of the naira redesign and and shambles perpetrated in the horrible attempt cashless economy. Daily Rendezvous We have read with bemusement a certain story published in the Saturday, 4 February edition of The Nation newspapers captioned: Atiku, Fintiri in silent war.  Without so much ado, it is necessary that we put it on record that every aspect of the so-called story in all material particular is a figment of the writer's imagination.  However, it is not surprising that The Nation newspaper, which is basically a newsletter for the APC and its presidential candidate, will throw all ethics of journalism to the wind in coming up with such whimsical fabrication. For the avoidance of doubt, the relationship between the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his home governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri is cordial as ever.
