News Rendezvous  The Senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, Binos Dauda Yaroe, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the need to strengthen opposition politics in Nigeria. Speaking during an interaction with journalists, Yaroe said his decision was informed by consultations with his constituents across the nine local government areas of Adamawa South as well as his conviction that democracy thrives only when there is a strong opposition. It was a battle that started during the military era. It was a struggle that nearly caused me my life and that of my son, Adamu, in Kaduna. I survived the assassination only by the mercies and grace of God. Following that attack, I was forced into exile. But that attack claimed the precious lives of some police officers. Daily Rendezvous We have read with bemusement a certain story published in the Saturday, 4 February edition of The Nation newspapers captioned: Atiku, Fintiri in silent war.  Without so much ado, it is necessary that we put it on record that every aspect of the so-called story in all material particular is a figment of the writer's imagination.  However, it is not surprising that The Nation newspaper, which is basically a newsletter for the APC and its presidential candidate, will throw all ethics of journalism to the wind in coming up with such whimsical fabrication.
