Killers on the Loose: Bandits 26 in Kaduna, 37 in Zamfara, abduct 62, Raze 70 houses

Daily Rendezvous The relentless wave of killing spree has continued in the far northern part of Nigeria in Kaduna and Zamfara where over 60 lives have been killed and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed. Twenty-five persons, including two military personnel, were reportedly killed, while a riot policeman allegedly shot a passerby and no fewer than 70 houses were razed on Sunday following an attack by terrorists on Agban Kagoro in Kaura LGA of Kaduna State. Similarly, in Zamfara State, bandits were reported to have killed 37 persons and kidnapped 62 others in Juyi and Doruwa villages in the Bungudu Local Government Area, while 20 others were killed in Ganar-Kiyawa village in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Saturday. The Kaduna killings sparked protests on Monday as irate youths from the affected area blocked the road and attacked travellers. Bandits Gun Down Kaduna House of Assembly member

Daily Rendezvous A member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Giwa West Constituency, Rilwanu Gagadau, has been killed by bandits. Rilwanu was the chairman of the House Committee on Local Government. He was among those recently attacked by the bandits along Zaria-Kaduna Highway, leading to his death. The Kaduna State House of Assembly confirmed the incident through the house clerk. Also confirming the incident, the Speaker of the Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, described the lawmaker’s death as tragic. In a statement on Wednesday, he revealed that Gadagau died during the attack by bandits along the highway and his body was recovered two days later. “This is tragic and painful. Abduction of School Girls: It's a Threat to Education in Nigeria-NAWOJ President Blast

Daily Rendezvous   The national president of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalist, Ladi Bala, has called on governmnent at all levels to quickly address the unabated kidnapping of girls in schools across the country. Ladi pointed out that the abductions at Kankara, Jangebe, and Kaduna are one abductions too many and governmnent should address the growing insecurity in the country. Ladi made the remarks in a press statement issued to Daily Rendezvous, over the weekend. Ladi notes that while closing of all schools by the Niger state government could be seen as temporary situation, governmnent at all levels should work towards the fencing of schools to curb the incessant kidnappings of school children and especially girls.
