We Will Revamp our Party into a Place Where Ideas, Development and Progress Are Discussed- Hon.Theman Jonah

Daily Rendezvous
The newly elected caretaker committee chairman of Labour Party in Adamawa, Theman Jonah, has vowed to raise tha standard of the party to a level that captured the aspirations and ambitions of all citizens of Adamawa state and the world.

Theman said, he and his newly elected officials are poised to organize a summit to strategise and capture the interest of all party members including creating a reward system where all members who work for the party reap the reward of their hard work.

Theman made this known in an acceptance speech he sent newsmen in Yola, Adamawa state.

Theman said, "There are challenges, but we are ready. My fellow comrades you have invested so much trust not only in my person, but in all of us that have emerged.

"I am aware there are challenges here and there but I believe that the team that has just emerged, we have what it takes to address those challenges.

"The instruments required do not need to be rocket size, but basic commitment to the provisions of our constitution, commitment to internal democracy, mutual respect for each and everyone of us, purge ourselves of any arrogance and a commitment to honesty, listen, discuss, persuade and finding common ground so that in the end, we can have a win-win solution in any local government or ward we have challenges."

Theman explained that, "We will organise a summit to discuss issues, create platforms for popular participation so that we replace the current situation in which issues are not being discussed.

"The only issues discussed are ethnicity and religion. We must reinvent ideas and identify socialist intellectuals to assist is in generating ideas on better policy options that should guide our party in our commitment to affect positively the state and Nigeria polity, economy and society.

"We have the will and we are committed to do what we have to do to have political party that in the near future can be compared to Pan-Africanist Movement Party, PASTEF and serve as a strong pillar to all the government elected on the platform and ensure that when elected, the party is not reduced to a mere election platform, but remain a platform to engage, interrogate and interface with all those elected on our party platform. That way, the contradictions that we see will be dealt with satisfactorily."

He further said, "Working together, we will ensure that the management of the reward system reflect the amount of efforts that people puts into it.

"Once there is no relationship between efforts and reward, people are bound to grumble here and there. I believe we can make up for whatever complains people have. The important thing is that this is a process and I have fate that we can resolve all these things.

" I will use the coming weeks to consult widely on how best to proceed with our common agenda of reform and revitalization.  I will listen attentively to your concerns, expectations and admonitions."
He appreciated the leaders, elders and stakeholders of the party for the vote of confidence reposed on them and promised to turn around the formidable party that would have a say in the state.

The state caretaker committee chairman said the PDP government in Adamawa state does not reflect the will of the people. "Adamawa is dynamic and diverse, and Adamawa aspires to take on greater responsibilities for the nation.  Having come so far and rising still, the state is living in spite of the failure of the leadership of PDP in the state and the challenges of our current times faced by the masses.
"Adamawa is a state where modesty is a virtue. Indeed, our party is modest in its means, but not in its values.  We should be more modest in our words, but not in our performance.  The true measure of success for the party is not how much we promise, but how much we deliver for those who need us most. "
