Geneva/New York, 20 March 2024-- Immediate action is needed to stem an unprecedented multi-year upsurge in cholera cases worldwide, according to the International Coordinating Group (ICG) on Vaccine Provision. Actions include investing in access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene, testing and detecting outbreaks quickly, improving quality of and access to healthcare, and fast-tracking additional production of affordable oral cholera vaccine (OCV) doses to better prevent cases. UN Condemns Abductions of Girls, Women, Boys in Borno State

Daily Rendezvous  The United Nations has condemned the reported abductions of Internally Displaced Persons, mostly girls, women and boys in Ngala local government area of Borno state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Resident Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohammed Malick Fal. The state reads, "The United Nations strongly condemns the reported abduction of internally displaced persons (IDPs), many of them women, boys and girls, in the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.  XThe exact number of people abducted remains unknown but is estimated at over 200 people." The UN said, "On 29 February, members of a non-state armed group (NSAG) allegedly abducted the IDPs who had reportedly ventured beyond the safety of the trenches surrounding Ngala - from the ISS, Zulum, Kaigama, and Arabic IDP camps - in search of firewood. The mantra was just one: she's turning water into wine and making many party women walk on water. Her first call was to summon all the APC women leaders and other women party Executive from the ward level to the local government to have a progressive discussion towards the unity of the party.
