Adamawa Politician to Tackle Thuggery, Unemployment and Environmental issues

An Adamawa state house of Assembly hopeful, Usman Maulud, has promised to pursue legislation that would address insecurity posed by thugs in his area, create jobs and address poor sanitary condition of Yola north.

Usman Maulud also cautioned his fellow politicians to always deliver on their promises in order to avoid being desperate at the end of their tenures.

Maulud explained that democracy in its nature has given a supreme power to the voters and Constituents to evaluate and say whether they are satisfied with the performance of a politician after four years in office.

Mauludu made the remarks, Saturday, during his declaration to run for member of the Adamawa state house of Assembly.

The former councillor said, he is challenging the incumbent because his political background has been shaped by a dogged pursuit of the interest of his people.

He said, the people of Yola north have been plagued by a recurring security challenge of "Shila boys" who harass women, confiscate phones from residents and terrorise locals and the politicians under whom the responsibility lies  to address the issue have been complacent.

Maulud said, "As a party faithful, I welcome the direct voting system proposed by the national leadership of the party am comfortable with it, whatever system would be good for me.

"We have to address issue of unemployment in the state, Jimeta Marshalls is a good system that was helping with security and other social issues but the scheme did not enjoy training and reevaluation that it deserves."

"We cannot run politics without improving the life of our people, there are too many young and strong youth without jobs to do, we  put forward legislation that could create opportunities for them if given the chance".

"Another issue I will like to address as a legislator is the issue of poor sanitary condition of Yola, Yola is an administrative center of the state yet you could see waste dumped indiscriminately in the state capital.

"For example, most of the marketers in the state pay for sanitation, yet you could keep waste in your front of your shop and there would be no one to evacuate them, that is a problem that must be addressed," he said.

Various speakers at the event praised Usman as a man of integrity and a person committed to promoting the ideals and good image of the party in the state.
