2019: Modi on The Prowl, as 226 Councillors, 105 Advisers, 21 LG Vice Chair Renege on Bindow

Just five days counting down to the party primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Adamawa and the bid of the Adamawa state governor, Muhammed Umaru Jibrilla, for a second term in office has suffered another setback as all the councillors from the 226 wards in the state, about 105 advisers of the governor and the 21 vice chairmen of local governments in the state, have reneged on their loyalty to Bindow over claims of years of unpaid allowances and the refusal of the governor to pay local government and health workers salaries in the state.

While the councillors revolt was on, a gubernatorial hopeful in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mahmood Halilu Ahmed (Modi) dares Bindow in Mubi, the home town of the governor, where a crowd of party faithfuls endorsed his candidacy amidst demands for a change from the over three years of unkept promises of governor Bindow.

Mahmood Halilu (Modi) while speaking at the occasion promised the people of Adamawa, that on his life, he would not steal from Adamawa's government's purse rather that he would bring in more resources for job and wealth creation in the state.

Modi Said, "May God take my life if I steal a Kobo from Adamawa's money.

"I have been blessed by God from childhood and I am wealthy, it is something that I would use to help my people regain their freedom and not steal from them.

"My candidacy was built on the vision of restoring the dignity of the people of Adamawa state by combating poverty and unemployment and I intend to revive the economy of the state into one of the most economically sound states in the country."

Mahmood said as an experienced and active politician, he was instrumental to the emergence of this present government into power explaining that as someone who has seen the internal workings of a functional party, he would work to strengthen the political party in the state and reverse the trend where party officials are reduced to beggars around government officials.

He said "I have been in politics for sometimes now and I have played significant role in strengthening democracy in the country and I know that the only thing truly of worth that we would leave behind as humans is the legacy of a good name and the reputation of good works and that is my mission for this state.

"I have decided to offer myself sacrificially for service with the goal of turning things around for the good of the state."

He urged the party leaders to consider posterity, knowing fully well that the fate of the state was in their hands and that they should stand on their rights to choose the most competent people to take the state to a greater level of development.

Modi promised to create jobs and save the state from the misery it has been plunged into by the Bindow led government.

He urged them not to succumb to threats and intimidation from the government stressing that the problems of the state were caused by the neglect of local government staff and health Workers.

The supporters who were drawn from the five local governments of Michika, Madagali, Mubi north, Mubi south and Maiha, comprising the northern zone of Adamawa, promised their unalloyed support for his candidacy.

Speaking at the occasion, Markus Gundiri, said, Mahmood's candidacy would usher in a committed, patriotic and transparent leadership adding that the Modi led APC government will project a new image of how a party is run and perceived in the state.

This he said, stressing that change was imperative to make right the wrongs created through myriads of failed promises from governor Bindow which has dampen party loyalists morale.
