PDP Primaries Crisis: Committee Faults Winner Claims By Aspirant

By Billy Graham Abel Yola

Members of the PDP committee which supervises the Adamawa senatorial contest have faulted one of the aspirants in the southern senatorial zone, Binos Dauda Yero, over his claims of victory in the Tuesday primary, held in Numan.

The committee members led by Sule Ahmed Gisse made the remarks Thursday, while fielding questions from Newsmen, in Yola, Adamawa state.

Sule said, "No aspirant has the right to declare himself winner before the committee announces the result.

"Voting had been concluded in the contest at Numan, counting was also concluded and before the result would be officially announced by the committee, some thugs came in and disrupted the entire process.

"The chairperson of the committee, Joy Imodi, had to leave for the national convention of our party and the result would be announced immediately it is ready."

He notes that the result of all the three senatorial zone are yet to be announced because it is the responsibility of the committee to do so, not the aspirants laying claims to victory.

Earlier Wednesday,  Binos Dauda Yero had issued a statement calling on all party members to rally behind the gubernatorial aspirant of the party and Atiku Abubakar at the presidential primaries to ensure that PDP emerges victorious at the polls in the 2019 elections, saying collated results shows that he has 408 votes, while Grace Bent has 322 votes and the other aspirant, Kobis had about 189 votes.

Binos explained that voting by delegates was concluded, as well as, the counting and that the agents of the contestants had signed the result sheet before thugs invaded the area and disrupted the process.

He notes that the official result could not be different from what they all saw.
