Bindow Finally Signs 2019 Election Peace Accord

The Adamawa state governor Muhammed Umaru Jibrila Bindow has signed the Adamawa state 2019 elections Peace Accord, at the INEC office in Yola following strong criticisms from his opponents after he failed to appear at the official signing late 2018.
The signing of the peace accord demonstrates the APC controlled Adamawa state government's committment to a peaceful elections in 2019.
The Adamawa state governor said, he was signing the peace accord to demonstrate his resolve for peace and the state government's committment to a peaceful general elections in Adamawa state.
Speaking after signing the accord, the governor called on other politicians in the state to educate their followers on the need for a violent free elections and for peace during and after the elections.
He assured the people of the state that with the good working relationship between the state government, security agencies and INEC, there will be a peaceful elections in places that had been troubled like Madagali local government area.
Bindow said, "I am very positive that elections will take place in Madagali and other security challenged areas in Adamawa.
"I know how important it is that I should sign this document as the leader of the state and because it demonstrates our committment to peace and peaceful elections.
"Living in a peaceful community is far better than being a prince."
The governor further said, "I would also like to use this occasion to call on those who are yet to collect their PVC's to do so, in order to be able to exercise their franchise and vote for the candidates of their choice.
"If you want to vote for Bindow, how can you do that if you don't have a voters card? So it is important that you go to your local government and wards for your voters card."
The Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Kassaim Gaidam, who received the governor along side the Adamawa state commissioner of Police, commended Bindow for finding time to sign the accord.
Gaidam said, "About twenty other political parties and their governorship candidates have signed the peace accord document and the document you are signing now has already been signed by the presidential candidates of your party and that of other political parties."
The peace accord was designed to outlaw thuggery, violence and hate speech among parties and their candidates during electioneering.
