Bindow Takes over Abandoned PDP Electrification Project

The Adamawa state governor, Muhammed Umaru Jibrila Bindow has ordered for the immediate connection of Toungo local government to the national grid, ten years after a contract for the electrification of the area has been abandoned by the PDP led government.

The local government is the only local government headquarters  in the state, not to have been connected to the national grid.

This is contained in press statement issued by the Chairman Media and Publicity Committee, Adamawa Southern Zone Campaign Council, Martins Dickson, Thursday.

The statement explained that the Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Martin Nasir Babale made the revelation during the flagging off of the Southern zone campaign council.

Babale said, "Toungo local Government is the only local government headquarters not connected to the national grid in Adamawa state.

"The contract for the electrification has been awarded by the federal government about a decade ago but was abandoned."

Babale, a native of Toungo local government explained that the Bindow led administration decided to take over the project from the federal Government because of its defining impact and direct bearing on the life of the common man.

He said, "Senator Bindow has authorized the first part of payment to the contractor."

Speaking at the campaign ground, Chairman of the Southern zone campaign council, Senator Ahmed Barata, urged the people of Toungo to vote for president Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Bindow and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Barata reminded the people that the ongoing construction of the Mayobelwa to Toungo road awarded by the federal Government, several water among other projects executed by the Bindow administration are testimonies that there are more good times ahead beyond 2019.

The occasion atrracted top politicians from the Adamawa South Senatorial District who are mobilising to deliver the southern zone for the governor and to ensure that the All Progressives Congress emerges victorious at all levels in the 2019 elections.
