The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress ((ADC) Abdul-Azeez Murtala Nyako has promised to establish a government that would create wealth and empower the people of Adamawa when elected in March as the governor of Adamawa state.

Nyako said he would run a government that is vision driven, people oriented and that is committed to the development of human and natural resources of the state.

He made the remarks at the official flagging-off, of his state-wide ward-to-ward campaign in Ganye local government area of Adamawa state.

While flagging-off the tour at a grand ceremony in Ganye Local Government, he promised to run a transparent government that would be prudent and accountable to the people.

The outspoken candidate and son to former governor of Adamawa, Murtala Nyako, said when elected he would revive all the popular grassroots empowerment programmes initiated by his father's administration including the Local Apprenticeship Scheme, Farming Skills Acquisition Centres and Special Assistance programme (SA).

These programs, then captured thousands of young people into a social safety net of the government and empowered thousands with the skills to earn a living and boost the state's economy.

Also speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the party, Yahaya Hammanjulde, praised the massive turn out at the rally which he described as a sign of acceptance and popularity of the party in rural areas of the state.

Hammanjulde said ADC is not a party that betrays the people and that it's choice Abdul-Azeez Nyako as its governorship candidate was based on his credentials as one of the most outstanding serving senators in the country and that he has the capacity to revive the people oriented, tested and trusted empowerment projects implemented by the then Murtala Nyako administration.

In his remarks, the ADC party chairman in Ganye, Salihu Dabbora, said the people of Ganye still relish the good memories of former governor Nyako's administration and would support his son Abdulaziz to be governor.

Highlight of the flag-off was the endorsement of Nyako by other political parties.

Abdul-Azeez who left the APC citing what he described as 'Counter-progressives elements in the party," is one of the candidates expected to defeat the APC led government in Adamawa state come March governorship elections.
