Dedan Emerges NUJ Chair

ABC reporter, Ishaka Donald Dedan, has emerged as the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, having polled sixty eight votes to defeat his closest challenger, Kate Aliyuda, of the ATV.

In the other elective position, Fidelis Jocthan of the FRCN defeated his only challenger, Emmanuel Njapiri, polling eighty five votes to emerge winner in the contest.

Other officials were returned unopposed are Abdullahi Muhammed as vice Chairnan (ATV), Felicia Dauda Amos (APL) as treasurer, Mary Adamu (NTA) financial secretary, Isa Tukur (ABC) as assistant secretary and Shekarau Yerima (GOTEL) as auditor.

The union has been grappling with challenges to finding development and progress and many of the aspirants have rolled out plans for the NUJ.

It remains to be seen how the new set of executives would navigate the challenges of the union and revamp ailing situation.
