The senator representing southern Adamawa at the national assembly,, Rev. Binos Dauda Yero, has hit the ground running at the red chamber, as the senator has raised an alarm that five of the nine local governments in his constituency have been under constant armed herdsmen attack and that thousands of locals in the Northeast have been forced to live in IDPs camps.
Binos made the remarks, while making contributions to a motion raised on the floor of the Senate.
Binos said, while it is critical that the security situation in the country is addressed, it is equally pertinent that the federal government addresses the situation of thousands that have been displaced by the onslaught and have been deprived of the comfort of living in their ancestral homes.
He pointed out that deplorable humanitarian situation in his senatorial zone cuts across the north east geo-political zone and would continue to fester unless it is immediately addressed.
Binos said, "Our people have been displaced not only in Borno, but also in Taraba and Adamawa.
"Five of the nine local governments in my constituency have been under a sustained attacks by hersmen.
"All attempts by residents to return to their home have been faced with fierce resistance and this is the second farming season that our people have not been able to take full advantage of."
The senator used the occasion to call for a concerted effort towards ending the crisis in the country.
