Adamawa to Hold LG Elections in 3 months

The Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru, has scheduled to hold Local Government Councils election in the state at most, the first week of October, which is within ninety days. 

The governor made this known when he received the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN on a courtesy call at the council chamber of the government house, Yola.

Umaru Fintiri said the elections will will trickle down governance to the ordinary people of the state, as it would enable the electorate at the grassroots elect leaders of their choice to man the affairs of the councils so as to entrench dividends of democracy at the all level.

He also expressed concern on the ban on importation and use of NPK and Urea fertilizer in Adamawa, among other states in the north east as a result of security concern by the federal government.

He notes that the ban has affected plans to supply the commodity to farmers in the state and urged farmers to be patient as his administration will look for other alternatives to address the snag.

The governor warned against illegal importation of the banned commodity into the state saying offenders could be arrested and charged under the crime of terrorism.

He thanked the CAN leaders for their support and prayers for his administration's success saying his administration will be just and fair to everyone in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Stephen Dami Mamza, said the aim of the visit was to congratulate the governor on his successful inauguration.

Mamza said CAN is not unaware of the enormous challenges in the state but expressed confidence that equal to the task of fixing them based of his pedigree and track record.

He commended the governor for the positive steps already taken by his administration within its first thirty days in office and assures that CAN will continue to give him all the necessary support for the success of his administration.
