Twitter Finally Answers General Buhari Over Suspension of Its Operations In Nigeria

According to reports from Nigerian publications who have made inquiries from Twitter, the company has responded to the government' s action to suspend their operation in Nigeria.

Sarah Hart, who is Twitter' s Senior Policy, Communications Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said in a statement that they are looking deep into the matter.

"The announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter' s operations in Nigeria is deeply concerning," she said. 

Adding, "We' re investigating and will provide updates when we know more. "
Earlier on, Nigerians slammed and condemned President Muhammadu Buhari for making such decision of suspending Twitter operations in the country because his post was deleted about four days ago. 

His post, according the microblogging company, violated their rules.

Amnesty International also joined in condemning the move claiming that Nigerians widely use Twitter to practice their human rights including right to freedom of expression and access to information.

"We call on the Nigerian authorities to immediately reverse the unlawful suspension and other plans to gag the media, repress the civic space, and undermine Nigerians' human rights, " asked Amnesty.

However, the president said that the mission of Twitter in Nigeria is very very suspicious, referring to previous Twitter actions, e. g for supporting ENDSARS hashtag.

"Has Twitter deleted the violent tweets that Nnamdi Kanu has been sending?" Asked Nigeria's information minister, kai Mohammed. 

"The same Twitter, during the #ENDsars protests, that was funding #ENDSARS protesters."

He added, " We are not going to be fooled by anybody. We have a country to rule and we will do so to the best of our ability. 

"Twitter' s mission in Nigeria citing those two examples is very suspect. What is their agenda?"

However, at the time of writing this story, the Twitter was still active in Nigeria and the government' s accounts, including the Nigeria Presidency and the Government of Nigeria were still accessible.
 
Even former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, confirmed that his account was still in use.

" Hopefully, this isn' t my last tweet, ' ' he said.
