1 Person Killed, 2 Injured As Gunmen Attack Adamawa Community

The corpse of the slain Sheriff had already been deposited in mortuary at Numan General Hospital.

Eyewitnesses, Gambo and Benedict narrating the incident said, the assailants suspected to be herdsmen laid ambush approaching Dong Village in the night and attacked them while returning home after the evening session of the LCCN convention.

“They swutched-on ttheir torchlights on us and started approaching in various groups. We immediately ran  into the nearby bushes while sheriff was caught by the assailants. 

"We waited to see him but to no avail only to discover his lifeless, matcheted, battered body and his hand and fingers chopped-off.”

The added that, "This brutal killings have become incessant along Dong axis, we loss so many youths and kidnappings has also been on the increase too."

Meanwhile, the member representing Demsa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Kate Mamuno and the Chairman of Demsa Local Government area, Wenokam Fwah, assured restive youths of prompt action in bringing the perpetrators to book.

Mamuno said, “it is really a sad incident but no one should laws into their hands. I am going to inform the Governor and table it before the house as a matter requiring urgent attention."

Fwah explained that, "The Local Government has already deployed security operatives and the two paramount Rulers have been informed accordingly.

An academics and a community leader, Prof. Wonotanzokan Tagowa, who was also at the mortuary condemned the act in strong terms describing the attack as barbaric and inhumane.

“Government should revisit the truce between herdsmen and Bachama people with a view to steming the tide once and for all otherwise, it will not spell well in terms of peace. Nigerians are hurt and many are running out of patience."
