Why do people call you Speaker, particularly your close allies?
Abdullahi Ahmed Musa:
Yeah, I was was a student parliament speaker when I was in ABU .
Rendezvous:
You are an Aspirant in APC for the position of Governor, do you think you have a chance to pick the ticket when you have not really been in the forefront of the party's struggle in the past?
Abdullahi Ahmed Musa:
That is not true, I have been in party for sometime now,we have contributed our quota for the success of the party in the state and country.
I have been in private business were we made tremendous success which has given me an edge so now I want to contribute to the development of Adamawa.
My natural inclination to serve humanity prompt my decision to join politics so I can contribute my quota towards the socio-economic development of my dear state, Adamawa, I know I have the capacity to make Adamawa woke again.
Rendezvous:
Sir, talking about making Adamawa state work again, what are the things you hope to do or infuse into governance if given the chance?
Abdullahi Ahmed Musa:
Thank you so much, yes, my political philosophy, I am a capitalist I believe in capitalism and I practice it to the latter because no life is free, you use what you have to get what you want.
Capitalism is a natural and most practical way to creat wealth firself and for the society, this has served most of the first world countries very well and I will use what we have as a state to get what we want for our development.
One sure way I will get this done is to allow local government allocation go straight to the council this will enable the various local government council to develop their plans for the people, they will use their resources to develop their council and their people.
Adamawa state today is one of the most busiest airport in the country,we have four flights daily, I will invest on the Aviation sector for the state by leasing three Airplanes form boaing at a cost of just N650m in investment.
I will leverage on the possibility of leasing up to three 737 aircraft which has a capacity of flying 148 persons per trip.
Apart from creating well paying jobs for our youths in their hundreds we will also be having about N 8 billion monthly after all expenses as internally generated revenue.
Agriculture and Tourism will also be my focus, frist will go the Rugs option to sustain peace from Farmers-Herders crisis.
Each senatoral district will have a vast land of about 300 hectares of land to confine those cattles in a place, we will build a earth dam,a vetrinay and grasses for the cattles to feed on and a hostel, we will not allocate the place to any individual.
No individual family will be allowed there but the herders will only stay in the hostel after which they will return to their homes.
The local government administration will be responsible for managing the reserves including the hostel, fees and movement of cattles from one location to another.
On tourism, I will revive the Yola international hotel which is the best
in North East region but successive government policies have destroyed the hotel and lying comatose but I will revive it .
Education remains the bedrock for any development the money from the federation account will be used to for education and health, I will bring back education authorities and inspectors because these two sectors form the backbone of every society.
Rendezvous:
How will you describe your vision for Adamawa state?
Abdullahi Ahmed Musa:
My leadership principle translates to equal opportunity for everybody, open government policy, I will implement free information to the public, budget will be open, people will tell us what they want in their community and not we doing what will want
I see a greater Adamawa as a shinning light to entire nation, I have a dream of the reality of the sun shine state becoming a shinning star in every sector.
I will want to see a level playing ground for all elected office holder and the people of the rural areas such that they will have no need to abandon the rich and fertile rural areas to Urban areas in the state.
I will want to see a state with youths and gender equality, were they will be given opportunity to participate in the politics and governance in the state.
I will reach out other states that are getting it right so as to replicate same in Adamawa and ensure that our professionals are put to best use for desired results and development in all 226 wards in Adamawa.
