Padio Phineas Emerges Correspondent Chapel Chairman With a Thumping Win

There has been a change of guard at the Correspondent Chapel, leadership in Adamawa state as Padio Phineas posted a thumping win to emerge the new chairman of the chapel.

Padio beats Alh. Umar Dankano and the incumbent, Daji Sani, to emerge the new leader of the Chapel.

Padio, while soliciting for votes of his comrades, promised to usher in a new, dynamic and vibrant leadership that would see the chapel reinvent itself as a strong voice in monitoring public affairs and ensuring accountability in governance and leadership.

The state chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan has charged the newly elected officials of the state correspondents chapel to stick to the constitutional provision guiding the profession.

The inauguration at the chapel office followed the election that saw Phineas Padio emerging as the new Chairman 

The oath of office was administered on the newly elected exco of the correspondent chapel by the state chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan.

While congratulating them on their victory, he tasked the officials to eschew any form of differences and conduct themselves thereby, taking the path of unity and peace.

The chairman also lauded members of the pen profession for their disposition and high sense of maturity, encouraging the sworn inexecutive to be fair and transparent in discharging their duties.

Comrade Dedan further heaped praises on the electoral committee headed by Hebron Giwa for conducting one of the best election so far, adjudged as peaceful and transparent.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman Phineas Padio thanked members for their support and cooperation, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He assured of his determination and desire to push for the realization of his manifesto to move the chapel to greatness.

Other stakeholders in the pen profession from the national and state levels to include Zare Baba wished the executive well, noting that the exercise has opened a new chapter of understanding and team work.

They reminded them that in any contest, there must be a winner and a looser, hence the need to work in unity and ensure professionalism remains the priority. 

Earlier, out of 37 members of the correspondent chapel, 36 casted their ballot that saw Phineas Padio beat his two opponents to emerge the chairman with 23 votes, followed by Umar Danjano 13 votes and Daji Sani who got no vote.

Other officials who emerged unopposed include; The vice chairman Ibrahim Kado, secretary Percy Dabang, financial secretary Auwal Umar and Treasurer Amina Abdullahi among others.

They are expected to pilot the affairs of the state chapter of the correspondent chapel for the next three years.
