2023: Arewa Alliance Vows to Pick Presidential Ticket for Emefiele

A northern Youth group, Arewa Alliance for Emefiele, has called on the Central Bank Governor of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to run for the president of Nigeria come 2923 general elections. The group says it is taken the responsibility to buy a presidential ticket of the APC for Nigeria's number one banker in order to enable steer the affairs of the country and bring in the much needed transformation that.

The convener of the Arewa Alliance, Dauda Kushu said, there is no person better qualified and best prepared for the job of running Nigeria than the central bank governor who has been able to launch several economic, social and agricultural interventions schemes and policies through his office as the Central Bank governor that has positively impacted the lives of millions and helped stabilise the economy of the country despite global economic instability 

The convener of the Arewa Alliance for Emefiele, Dauda Kushu, made the remarks at a press conference held in Yola, Adamawa state.
Kushu said, .his group is convinced that Emefiele has the potential to be Nigeria's next President because of his professionalism, economic prudence, his efforts at curtailing insecurity, fighting against corruption, and promoting innovation based the nation's immediate needs.

Kushu put forward that Emefiele is  "A vision-driven and target-focused leader who would help Nigerian youths unleash their creative talents, innovative energies, and resourcefulness, all of which will make them extraordinary citizens and sterling ambassadors overseas every time they have the opportunity."

Outlining Emefiele's successes in his time as the central bank governor he said, "Nigeria has enhanced its non-oil exports, boosted domestic output and increased agricultural productivity, and enabled young Nigerians to play active roles in the agro-business value chain as a result of CBN's multi-sectoral interventions under his leadership.
"An unprecedented degree of financing has been witnessed under his reign as CBN governor.

"CBN has produced over 12 million employment in agriculture through the Anchor Borrowers' Programme (ABP), and the figure is growing exponentially.

"Emefiele's successes in implementing the National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), which saw the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) distribute N3.0 billion to 7,057 beneficiaries, including 4,411 individuals and 2,646 small and medium-sized enterprises.

"Emefiele's bravery in refusing to sponsor the importation of over 40 commodities, was a difficult decision for which he was blackmailed."

Adding that, "Nigeria would have been squandering unlimited foreign exchange by importing rice, wheat, and other farm products, all of which the country has the resources and manpower to produce in commercial quantities."

He maintained that, "Nigeria was able to reduce its rice import bill from $1.05 billion per year before November 2015 to $18.50 million per year thanks to the ABP, improving Nigeria’s status from a consumerist economy to a more self-reliant, and food self-sufficient nation."

The Arewa Alliance for Emefiele leader argues that Nigeria needs fearless and courageous leader to help it get out of its current doldrums.

He marinated that it is Emefiele's visionary and dynamic leadership of the economy that has helped the country to stand strong in the midst of the current global pandemic and helped the country bounce back out of recession twice faster than projected.

The group says it is passionately appealing to the CBN governor to heed the call to run for president as it is ready to mobilise resources to purchase the ticket for him to vie for the president of Nigeria come 2023.
