Boom!!! Adamawa House of Assembly Member Lands in Trouble Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

Daily Rendezvous
A member representing Fufore/Gurin State Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Shuaibu Babas is allegedly entangled in a certificate forgery scandal, a source disclosed. The member is said to have forged his First School Leaving Certificate, FSLC, and used same to run for office.

A concerned constituent who presented the photocopies of the alleged forged document to Rendezvous requesting anonymity said, it is unconstitutional to allow someone who has committed such scandal to continue to represent his constituency.
The documents suggests that Hon. Babas completed his primary school at LGEA Primary School, Kukawa in 1986, at Yamatu Deba LGA in Gombe State, and collected FSLC on 25 April same year.

However, further checks have countered Babas' claims. According to the letter from the Ministry of Education, Gombe State, in response to an enquiry, titled Re-verification of certificate of primary school in respect of Shuaibu Babas, dated 6th September, 2019, and signed by Ali Yaya Ahmed, Ag. Director of Exams, for Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Gombe State, the certificate was forged.
The recommendation memo, MOE/S/EXAMS/E.20/V.II, stated that, as at the time claimed by the certificate (1986), Gombe was not created. The ministry also questioned the use of a letter heading, bearing Gombe State in 1986.

Accordingly, the State Education Ministry said, in 1986, Yamatu Deba LG, as claimed by the certificate was not created.

More damming is the 25th April, 1986, the day of the issuance of the certificate. A basic fact check of the dating of 25th April of 1986 calendar shows that the said date falls on a Sunday, which is not a school or a working day.

In its submission, the Gombe State Ministry of Education declares the certificate invalid, null and void, because of its forgery status.

The constituent therefore calls on relevant authorities to act to save the integrity of the hallowed state legislature by asking Hon. Babas to resign.

  1. If that's the the true position of the matter, then it's criminal in nature, therefore not only to resign, but all the relevant agencies, most especially police should arrest the legislator and prosecute him without delay,.
