Sen. Binos Eulogises "Uncle Tim" As a Big Brother
The senator representing Adamawa south senatorial zone, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of Timaus Mathias.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to this medium Saturday, the senator said the sad news of the veteran journalist’s demise hits him like a thunderbolt.
“The news of the transition to the great beyond of the icon of our time, Chief Timawus Mathias, came to me as a bolt from the blues. We were all afraid of the worst when a few months ago he went into a prolonged coma.
“When he came out of it and returned home, we thought the worst was over as we prayed for his complete recovery. We were more encouraged when we started seeing his posts on social media. But who are we and what do we know?
“Uncle Tim was many things to many people. For me, he was a senior brother and a volunteer media consultant. He acted as my elder brother because when my niece, Mrs. Pwalesado Pwanam Ishaku (née John) completed her studies in Mass Communication, he took her under his wings and supported her in exploring a career in broadcast journalism.
“Today, thanks to the foundation laid by Uncle Tim, Pwale is gainfully employed and established in her home.
“Uncle Tim was also my volunteer media adviser. He deployed his wealth of experience to help me beam a searchlight on the deplorable Numan-Jalingo Federal Highway. He produced a documentary which was aired on prime-time NTA Network in 2020.
“The biggest cause of the snail pace of work on this road is the grossly inadequate funding. Thankfully, a few months ago the funding constraint was removed with the securing of the Sukuk III Bond for the road project. We must appreciate Uncle Tim for this.
“Uncle Tim also facilitated my various engagements with the media in Adamawa State. I owe him a lot and will definitely miss his wise counsel.
“I’m using this medium to convey my sincere condolences Adamawa State Government, to his dear wife, children, grandchildren, the Bwatiye nation as well as all other extended family members everywhere.
“As I acknowledge his impact on my fledgling political career, I pray that the Almighty God will surround his family and all of us with His peace as we come to terms with this irreparable loss.
“Goodbye, Uncle Tim, rest on until we meet at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ,” the statement said.
