This Boat Must Not Sink- Martins Dickson

“Ships do not sink because of water around them, ships sink because of water that gets into them” ~ Pracin Jain
This quote by Pracin Jain vividly describes the situation in the Adamawa Chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC. Quite a volume of water has been surrounding the Adamawa APC boat in the State, the waters of stiff competition, waters of disunity, waters of If not me.., waters of strife, the waters of sharp disagreements, but we must not allow the waters get into the boat beyond its threshold. We must manage the inflow of these waters. THIS SHIP MUST NOT SINK.
The judgement of the Appeal court upholding the Governorship candidature of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani which was delivered on Thursday 24th November 2022 should ellucidate the need for the APC to unite because it is now more an existential need than personal gains and supremacy. A repeat of the 2019 episode must be avoided at all cost. We must commit ourselves to unity and victory in the 2023 election.
The illwind of unforgiveness and revenge has not blown us any good in the past, it will definitely not blow any gooder now. Why should some members onboard rock the boat?
The time has now come to exhibit strength of character and Leadership qualities worthy of all the candidates that sought to lead Adamawa State and its citizenry under the platform of the APC. A moral burden to prove that the quest is for the good of the people and not personal is now more expected than ever.
Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani has demonstrated a rare quality by extending an olive branch to her opponent without delay, this is expected from Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others. Indeed there is no Victor no vanquish, the Adamawa State APC owns the victory.
I want to call on Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and all Governorship aspirants of the APC to not only act but to be seen to act towards the overall interest of the party's victory in the state.
This is the moment where each an everyone must demonstrate Leadership qualities by advancing the cause for APC's victory in the forthcoming Governorship election of the state.
We are up against a sitting Governor hungry for power and control, one who is a monger for dominance and demeaning tendencies for winning at all cost. It will only take a united front synergized in common interest and discrete execution of strategies to unsit him. Just as Senator Binani has opined, everyone is needed on board. It is time to salvage Adamawa State and this is a collective responsibility.
Leadership is not about winning always, it is about ensuring that you support a progressive and developmental idea and agenda, even if you're not the one on the saddle. Just as democracy is defined, it is about the people.
The stiff politicking to secure the candidature of the party should be put to rest by this judgement, i implore Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and all other aspirants to make APC's winning at all levels a priority and a task that must be accomplished. This we must all do without reservation. We are racing against time.
The mammoth crowed that trooped out to welcome Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani back to the state on Saturday 26th November, 2022 is an indication, that APC faithfuls in the state and the voting public are craving for the bickerings at the courts to end, they're ready to mobilize votes for the APC.
We should seek to respect and uphold this wish and prayer. History is beckoning on us all.
