2023: Adamawa's the Most Progressive APC State in Nigeria, That's why Binani Will Win- Sen Girei

Nigerian politician and an APC starlwart in Adamawa State said Adanawa state APC will soon prove to Nigerians that the party is the most progressive part of tge party in the country by putting forward a female governorship candidate with a realistic chance brushing aside the lousy performing Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Adanawa APC will prove their sagacity in 2023 by electing the first female governor in Nigeria, a feat that no part of the country has been able to achieve despoite their claims to openess, Senator Abubakar Girei, has said.

Girei, who represented Adamawa Central Senatorial District between 1999 and 2003 under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known whike fielding questions to Newsmen Monday in Yola, Adanawa state.

Girei said, the APC governorship candidate for 2023, Senator Aishatu Ahmed, popularly called Binani, is heading for a clean sweep victory.

 

Girei who spoke against reservations in some quarters about Binani being a woman, said Adamawa politicians are too sagacious to choose leaders based on gender or some trivial consideration.

"We in Adamawa, I am proud to say, are among the most politically sagacious people in Nigeria." he said, 

To those contending with the issue of her gender he threw a reminder saying, "Binani won an election to become Member of the House of Representatives member (in 2011) and then another election as senator (in 2019) in the most so-called conservative part of the state.

Recalling also that the state has produced two other female senators in the current dispensation, namely Binta Massi (Adamawa North, 2015-2019) and Grace Bent (Adamawa Sout, 2003-2007), Abubakar Girei insisted that people are more interested in competence and credibility than gender.

 

"We assess people on merit regardless of gender, regardless of religion or ethnicity. What a candidate can do for the people is always the concern of an average Adamawa elite," he said, 

"I want to assure you that as Binani won House of Representatives and then won Senate elections, that's how she will win the 2023 general election and become the first female governor in Nigeria."

Girei said he is all the more certain that incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri will fall to Binani because Binani has affected lives as a House of Representatives member and then as Senator more than Fintiri has done as governor.

The APC jaggernaut also praise the former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu, for withdrawing the case against Binani saying he has earned his place as a kingmaker.

Sen. Girei argues that if Ribadu has gone on with his case, the party would have been embroiled in a bitter crisis long into January and the party would not have been able to regoup to mount a formidable contest at all levels.

He said it is the statesmanship and sportsmanship of Nuhu Ribadu that has afforded them the time and opportunity to put Fintiri in his place and win the 2023 elections with ease.

He called on all APC loyalist to rally around the governorship candidate of the party, who has the sterling quality to defeat the incumbent, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
