Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a significant loss to Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri extended his sympathies to the Federal Government, the Nigerian people, and the family of the late former leader, who died on Sunday in London at the age of 82.
Governor Fintiri paid glowing tribute to President Buhari’s legacy, acknowledging his lifelong commitment to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and progress.
Gov. Fintiri said, "President Buhari will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His leadership, both in his military and democratic roles, left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political and historical landscape.”
The Governor highlighted Buhari’s significant contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, and security. He also recalled Buhari’s role during some of the nation’s most turbulent times, including the Nigerian Civil War, noting that the late President’s statesmanship helped preserve Nigeria’s unity.
Fintiri made special mention of the late President’s wife, Aisha Buhari, who hails from Adamawa State, offering his deepest condolences and urging her to find strength in the legacy her husband left behind.
“We join the First Lady, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari, and the entire family in mourning this national icon. She should take solace in knowing that her husband’s name will continue to inspire generations to come,” he added.
Fintiri offered prayers for the repose of the former President’s soul saying, “May Allah grant the late President Muhammadu Buhari Aljanatu Firdaus and grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
