Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree in Public Administration by the University of Port Harcourt in recognition of his exceptional contributions to public service and governance. The award was presented during the institution’s grand 50th anniversary convocation ceremony.

In a congratulatory message, Aliyu Isma’ila lauded the governor’s remarkable achievements and visionary leadership, describing the honorary degree as a “well-deserved recognition” of Fintiri’s tireless dedication to the transformation of Adamawa State.

“This remarkable recognition is a testament to your visionary leadership, tireless dedication to public service, and your outstanding achievements in transforming Adamawa State,” Isma’ila stated. “Under your stewardship, the state has witnessed tremendous progress in education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance.”

Governor Fintiri, who has received widespread acclaim for his reform-driven approach and people-centred policies, was praised as a symbol of integrity and excellence in Nigerian politics.

“This honour reflects not only your integrity and passion for development but also the hope and pride you inspire in the people of Adamawa and Nigeria as a whole,” the message continued. “You have remained a symbol of excellence, and this latest honour reinforces the confidence we have in your continued leadership.”

Isma’ila concluded his message by praying for Governor Fintiri’s continued success, invoking blessings for more wisdom and strength as he pilots the affairs of Adamawa State.

The conferment comes as part of a series of acknowledgements celebrating Governor Fintiri’s impact on state-building and national development, further solidifying his legacy as one of the country’s progressive leaders.

Customs Intercepts N67.8 Million Worth of Smuggled Goods, Rescues Endangered Parrots in Adamawa

Daily Rendezvous  In a major breakthrough against illegal cross-border activities, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Adamawa/Taraba Area Command has intercepted contraband goods valued at over N67.78 million and rescued more than a hundred endangered wild African grey parrots. The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Customs House in Yola, where the Area Controller detailed the remarkable achievements of the Command’s operatives in their latest anti-smuggling operations conducted over the past three weeks. What Was Seized? The Command recorded 19 separate interceptions across multiple smuggling routes including Mubi-Sahua, Goshindan-Farang/Belel, Girei-Woro Bokki, Fufore-Gurin, Gella, Damere Waterside, and Numan axis. Adamawa State Tertiary Institutions Shutdown Over Minimum Wage Snub

YOLA – Academic and non-academic staff of Adamawa State-owned tertiary institutions have shutdown all tertiary institutions in the state as a result of failure by the Fintiri-led government to include tertiary institutions in the state in its minimum wage implementation plan. The instructions decided to embarked on an indefinite strike following the government’s failure to address their demand for new minimum wage implementation after its seven-day warning strike elapsed, Monday, 10th March, 2025 as the state government keeps mum. The decision was announced in a statement released by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of academic and non-academic staff unions, signed by the committee’s chairperson , Comrade Maryam Abdullahi.
