Turakin Batta, Aliyu Ismai'la, Mourns Yola Flood Victms, Commends Gov. Fintiri’s Leadership Amid Tragedy

Daily Rendezvous Yola, Adamawa State — July 29, 2025

Prominent statesman and elder, Aliyu Isma'ila Numan, the Turakin Batta, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating floods that recently struck Yola South and Yola North, resulting in the tragic loss of lives, destruction of homes, farmlands, and businesses across the affected communities.

In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Turakin Batta extended his sympathies to the government and people of Adamawa State, describing the incident as a “painful and deeply distressing event.”

“At this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with all the affected families and communities,” he stated, acknowledging the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis that has followed in the wake of the natural disaster.

He prayed for Almighty Allah's comfort upon the bereaved families, healing for the injured, and resilience for those who have suffered great losses, particularly in terms of livelihood and shelter.

Turakin Batta also used the opportunity to commend Governor Fintiri’s leadership, expressing confidence in the administration’s ability to provide swift relief and champion long-term solutions to prevent future disasters.

“We pray for divine guidance and support to Your Excellency and your administration as you lead the efforts toward relief, recovery, and sustainable environmental resilience,” the elder statesman remarked.

Describing the flood as a stark reminder of the region’s vulnerability to climate-related emergencies, he called for unity, preparedness, and greater investment in environmental and infrastructural resilience, noting that such tragedies underscore the urgent need for proactive governance and community collaboration.

The floods, which swept through several communities following hours of heavy rainfall, have displaced hundreds and caused significant damage to property and farmland, impacting livelihoods in one of the state’s most densely populated zones.

Authorities have since begun assessing the full extent of the damage, as emergency response teams continue to provide temporary shelter, medical care, and food supplies to affected households.
