Umar Duhu, Commiserates with Governor Zulum and People of Borno over Boko Haram Attack

Daily Rendezvous

Maiduguri, Nigeria — October 25, 2025

The Federal Commissioner representing the North-East at the Code of Conduct and Public Policy Tribunal (CCPT), Dr. Umar D. Duhu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and the entire people of the state following the recent deadly attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

In a condolence message issued on Friday, Dr. Duhu described the attack as a “flagrant violation of human rights and a barbaric assault on humanity,” noting that the incident had left an indelible mark on the collective psyche of Nigerians. He called for unity, compassion, and renewed support for the victims and their families.

“This heinous act is a painful reminder of the sacrifices borne by the people of Borno in defence of peace, justice, and national unity,” Duhu stated. “We stand in solidarity with His Excellency, the Government, and the good people of Borno State as they navigate this trying time.”
The Federal Commissioner condemned the incident in the strongest terms and urged the military and security agencies to adopt a more proactive and intelligence-driven approach to counter-terrorism, noting that the reactive posture of the armed forces has yielded limited success in recent years.

“It is imperative that the military reassess its strategy and tactics in line with international best practices to forestall further loss of lives,” he said.

Dr. Duhu commended Governor Zulum’s courage and leadership in steering the State through persistent security challenges, while praying for divine strength for the Governor and comfort for the bereaved families.

“We pray that Almighty God grants eternal rest to the departed souls, comforts the grieving families, and restores peace, stability, and prosperity to Borno State,” he added.

He concluded with a message of hope, expressing optimism that Borno will emerge stronger from its present trials.
