Gen. Zirkusu is a Huge Loss to Hong/Gombi, Adamawa, Nigeria -Hon. Buba Yusuf
Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs and lawmaker representing Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Buba Yakub, has described the death of Brig. Gen. Dzarma Zirkusu in an ambush by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists as a huge loss to the people of Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency, to Adamawa State and to the nation at large.
He said the late General was a fine officer, who was not only committed to his chosen profession but had the heart to do everything he could to make the people feel safe and free wherever he found himself.
He recalled several instances when the late General had brought succour to situations that looked quite apprehensive and said he would be greatly missed by colleagues and the people of the North East Zone in particular, whom he served with uncommon commitment until his last breath.
This is contained in a release personally signed by Yusuf Yakub Buba, which was made available to Newsmen in Abuja.
Buba commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, his Constituents at Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, Adamawa State and the nation on the loss of a man he described as "A Hero of Many Hearts."
In the words of the lawmaker:
"It's really a sad moment for all of us who had known and followed the rise of General Dzarma Zirkusu in the Nigerian Army. He was a fine, gentleman officer, who was everything a soldier should be.
He looked physically strong.He was brave. He was smart and quite knowledgeable in his calling. Above all, he was kind to the people he was commissioned to serve and did his job with outstanding passion. He was, indeed,a soldier's soldier and we all looked forward to many great years ahead for him to be sung. Alas,those years have been cut short by our common tormentors in our Zone".
While praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of the gallant officer and those of some three other soldiers, who were cut down alongside the General at Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, where they had been on their way to provide re-enforcement to comrades battling insurgents in the area.
Buba also enjoined the Nigerian Army not to lose sight of the victory ahead of them but to continue to press on against the terrorists, stressing that the victory of good over evil is as certain as daylight. He assured the Army of the prayers and continuous support of all Nigerians and urged them to accept the deep condolences of all on the loss of the men of valour,who put their lives on the line to keep our nation in peace.
