Correspondents' Chapel Set to Unveil Magazine on Fintiri's 3-years TrackRecord

The chairman of the correspondents' Chapel of the NUJ, Adamawa state chapter, Comrade Padio Phineas, the Media has a responsibility to uphold good in the society and raise the alarm when the system is dysfunctional.

Padio said, the media is at the fore of promoting good governance and that as members of the fourth estate of the realm, it is obliged to being to the limelight actions and inactions of government and people in power for public good.

Padio made the remarks during press conference, preceeding the unveiling of a Magazine designed to mark Democracy and to highlight governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's three years in office.

 The leader of the correspondents' in Adamawa said, functions of the journalist does not start and end in critisising government or People in power but include also promoting noble and responsible governance as it is clearly displayed in Adamawa.

He said, "The Correspondent Chapel of the  NUJ, has produced a document in the form of a scorecard for the administration of the current government in Adamawa state and this document is due for presentation  tomorrow the 12th of June 2022. 

"It basically captures the Administration's first three years in office.

"The Correspondent specifically looked  into the giant strides of the present administration in terms of infrastructure the government came with which we feel is uprecedented. And as such we believe that it is good. We also looked into the various critical interventions in healthcare, construction of hospitals across the state particularly cottage hospitals. We also acessed  the current free education policy of the government and the payment of NECO/WAEC examination fees for senior secondary school leavers across the state."

He adds that, "We believe these are the projects the government presented in its 11-point agenda during campaign, and  is implementing them wholistically.

"The Correspondent Chapel thinks it is impressive and as such the goverwnt need some encouragement and pat on the back to spur them to do more for the benefit of the state."

Explaining why the magazine was produced he said, "This by far is not patronizing or psychophancy and it is not about making the man feel good. It is about stating the facts the way they are.

"As watchdogs and members of the fourth estate of the realm, it is our responsibility to hold government accountable to the people for it's actions and inactions. To also raise the alarm, criticize where and when necessary, it is also our task to commend the government when it is on the right track.

"This is the spirit with which we embarked on this project.

"As we celebrate yet another democracy day, we urge the  entire good people of Adamawa state to support good governance at all levels for more gains of democracy.

"It is in this light that the Correspondent wishes to invite the general public to the official Unveiling of its Special Edition Magazine tag 'Fintiri's Three Years Scorecard: In the Eye of the Watchdog'"

The event which will be chaired by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe and co-chaired by Dr. Steven Maduwa, is expected to hold on Sunday 12th June, 2022 at the Banquet Hall, of the Government House at about 2 pm prompt."
