Legal Firm Tells INEC to Investigate Alleged Plot to Smuggle Boya's Form EC9 into INEC'S Portal 11 Days After Official Deadline

An Abuja-based law firm has rasied the alarm over an ongoing underhand plot by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Wakili Boya, in connivance with some INEC staff, to smuggle the name of Wakili Boya into INEC's website eleven days after the official June 17th, 2022 dateline.

The solicitors acting on behalf of their client, Samaila Ardo Mallum, submitted that the APC candidate, Wakili Boya, has failed to submit his details or upload his form EC9 on the 17th of June, 2022 as required by the electoral umpire.

This is contained in an official complain letter submitted to INEC office, by the law firm in Yola, Adamawa State.
The firm said, it is informing INEC of this underhand tactics employed by the politician and some INEC staff in order to bring the matter to the notice of the electoral body and to task the body to initiate an investigation j to the alleged act and prevent itself from taking sides in the electoral process and from compromising the integrity of the electoral process in Adamawa' state. 

The statement reads in part, "We are Solicitors to Samaila Ardo Mallum of Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa State (hereafter referred to as 'our client') on whose behalf and firm instruction we forward this complaint.

"Our client informed us, information backed with documents that sequel to the conclusion of primary elections for political parties and the dateline set for submission of candidates list, as well as, uploading of their data on form EC9, some candidates' data was not uploaded as at the 17th June, 2022 dateline given by your organisation INEC and one of such candidates is one Aliyu Wakili Boya, the APC candidate for Fufore/ Song Federal Constituency, Adamawa State wherein some powerful elements are making frantic effort to smuggle and upload his data as at Yesterday, 28th June, 2022 a clear eleven (11) days after the close of the INEC website."
The state further states that, "We forward this complaint to formally intimate you in case you do not know of the unlawful, underhand dealings taking place under your nose perpetrated by your staff in connivance with some powerful elements in government and this will certainly undermine the credibility of your office as well as jeopardise the transparency and neutrality of your organisation in the 2023 elections.

"It is hoped that you would order for proper investigation into this attempt and take measures to ensure that you respect your own rules  and stand by it so that one and all would have more confidence in your neutrality and respect for the law.

"We shall continually keep watch on your activities to ensure transparency, credibility and respect for the rule of law and tenets of democracy as we await your action on this complaint."
